Innovation

The team’s ability to generate and implement new ideas that drive improvement and value
What is Innovation?
The process of bringing about new ideas, methods, products, services, or solutions that have a significant positive impact and value.

Why is Innovation important?
In a complex world, only innovation enables teams to create and test ideas fast enough to survive.

Tips for improving Innovation in your team, based on ‘Design Thinking’ principles

  1. Build empathy: get the whole team out to meet your users.
What’s really happening for them in their world? What pain points do they
have? How is what you do helping and hindering this?
The goal is to deeply understand what’s happening for them, not to convince them
    how great you are!
  2. Expand your expansive thinking: sharpen your ability to ask open questions and challenge each other through brainstorming and other ideation approaches. Make sure the team is able to use whiteboards and other tools to make this possible in a virtual setting.
  3. Experiment: build the team’s ability to take small pieces of ideas and rapidly test them to get feedback.
